Who is Buck Wild Bison?
Buck Wild Bison is a veteran-owned, family-run company that ships premium bison and elk directly to your door anywhere in U.S. Our goal is simple: bring steakhouse-quality red meat to your home kitchen.
What do you sell?
We carry a full lineup of bison and elk cuts (steaks, roasts, ground, and specialty cuts) and treats and chews for your dog. Browse everything on our home page.
Where does your bison come from?
Our bison are raised on our ranches across the eastern U.S. and processed at a USDA-inspected facility.
Is your bison grass-fed?
Our bison are pasture-raised and grain-finished for marbling and tenderness.
Why choose bison over beef?
Bison has a rich, slightly sweet flavor and is naturally lean. It cooks like beef, so it fits into any recipe you already love: burgers, steaks, chili, roasts.
When do you ship?
Orders ship Monday and Tuesday. Any order placed by 2:00 PM EST on Tuesday goes out that same week.
How long does delivery take?
Most orders arrive within 1–2 business days of shipping, depending on your location.
How is my order packed?
Every order ships frozen in a sealed, insulated container, packed to hold the cold chain throughout transit.
Who is the carrier?
We ship via UPS. You’ll receive a tracking number by email when your order ships.
Do I need to be home for delivery?
We strongly recommend it. You’re responsible for tracking your delivery and making sure your package doesn’t sit outside for more than 1 hour.
Do you offer free shipping?
We offer free shipping for select states within our premium shipping zone. You can learn more here.
Do you ship to Alaska, Hawaii, or internationally?
We ship to Alaska and Hawaii, but we don't offer international shipping.
My meat arrived partially thawed. Is it safe?
Yes. Smaller cuts can sometimes arrive partially thawed. As long as the meat is 40°F or below, it’s safe to refreeze with no loss of quality, or you can cook it fresh. Only avoid refreezing meat that arrived above 40°F.
How do I check the temperature?
Insert the tip of a food thermometer into the middle of the meat, not the surface.
One of my vacuum-sealed packages has a small puncture. Is it still good?
Yes. Packaging can shift during frozen shipping and cause small punctures. Because the insulated container stays sealed and cold the entire trip, the product remains safe to freeze and enjoy as planned.
What is Order Protection?
Order Protection is an optional add-on at checkout that covers your package if it is lost, stolen, or arrives spoiled (above 40°F) in transit.
How do I file a claim?
Submit your claim through our Claims Portal within 24 hours of the carrier’s recorded delivery time. Include:
Approved claims receive a replacement or store credit.
What if I didn’t purchase Order Protection?
Once your package is handed to the carrier, Buck Wild Bison is not responsible for lost, stolen, or spoiled shipments. We’ll provide tracking, and any claims must be filed directly with UPS.
Can I return my order?
Because our products are perishable, we can’t accept returns.
Can I cancel my order?
Yes, within 24 hours of placing it, as long as it hasn’t shipped. You’ll receive a full refund minus a 3% restocking fee.
How long will the meat keep in my freezer?
Up to 12 months when kept sealed at 0°F.
How should I thaw it?
Thaw in the refrigerator overnight (24 hours for larger roasts). For faster thawing, submerge the sealed package in cold water.
Do I cook bison differently than beef?
Because bison is leaner, it cooks faster. We recommend cooking steaks to rare–medium (about 120–135°F) and pulling them a few degrees early to rest. Ground bison should be cooked to 160°F per USDA guidance.
What pet products do you offer?
We offer a variety of pet products, including our popular raw dog food blends, made from the same bison we sell for your table.
Are your pet products safe for all dogs?
Always supervise your dog with chews and bones, and choose a size appropriate for your dog. Check with your veterinarian if your dog has dietary restrictions.
